Our company specializes in raw materials for pastry, bakery and chocolate wholesalers. Our main products are marzipan, hazelnut crunch and nougatine. We are also at your disposal for all your milling needs, in small or large quantities, both as wholesalers and for private customers.

Our story

1988

Birth of Silly Belgium

Sylvie Sempo, trained as a teacher, and Alain Limbos, a physical education teacher, decide to take a career break to embark on the great adventure of making Brazilian sweets and other products intended for pastry chefs, chocolatiers, and ice cream makers. The company Silly (a diminutive of Sylvie) is established in May 1988 in the form of a Cooperative Society.

1992

Status Change

After approximately 4 years of operation, and a turnover that had nearly quadrupled (reaching 500,000 EUR by the end of 1991), the company Silly changed its status and became a Public Limited Company (in April 1992).

1999

Sustainable Growth

Thanks to its products and customer loyalty, the company Silly continues to grow and sees its turnover fluctuate around 2 million EUR.

2002

Fusion Sukro

In a bid for rationalisation, Sukro is merged by absorption into Silly.

2003

Expansion Production

The Hazelnut Crunch (praligrains) is increasingly successful with its customers, and the acquisition of a Hazelnut crunch production line allows the company to increase its capacity from 1,000 kg/day to over 4,000 kg/day (with 1 team).

2007

New Site

The site on Boulevard Bockstael (Laeken) becoming somewhat cramped and outdated, and after extensive research, the company Silly has acquired a new production site in the municipality of Jette (1090 Brussels), with a built area of over 5,000 m².

2008

Double Capacity

In order to expand its activities, the company decides to buy a second production line of Hazelnut Crunch (praligrain) which brings the total production capacity to 8.000 kg/day (in 1 shift).

2010

Moving Jette

In 2010, Silly moves to its new site in Jette, on the Dieleghem road.


2015

Certification BRC

In February 2015, Silly passed its first BRC audit and obtained certification with the highest level (Higher Level, Grade A).

2019

Company Split

In June 2019, Silly splits up to separate its real estate activity from its operating activity. This demerger results in the creation of 2 entities named respectively LLG Silly Invest and Silly Belgium.

2021

FSSC 22000 and RainForest

Silly Belgium has been FSSC 22000 and Rainforest Alliance certified since 2021.
